Mount Rushmore

After a whole day driving from Kansas, we arrived our first stop of 2009 summer driving tour: Mount. Rushmore - the sculptures of the heads of former United States presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. The sculptures are more spectagular than I thought.

Medicine Wheel

Leaving Devils Tower and following Wyoming Highway 14A, we drove from the Bighorn basin into high elevation ranger land in the mid summer of 2009. It’s chilly in the summer here. We park more than a mile away and to walk to this National Historic Landmark –Medicine Wheel. Native American people hold ceremonies and commune with the Great Spirit to obtain strong spiritual medicine.

Key West -Town

Attracted by its geographic location -the southernmost point of the States, I flew to Miami and took a rental car to Key West in the late summer of 2009. Life here is all about the sea: fishing in the sea and living in the boat house. No wonder that Hemingway got the idea for The Old Man and The Sea.
Life is good here.

Devils Tower

It's a sunny afternoon in the summer of 2009 and we were on the way to visit this America's first national monument (Devils Tower, WY). Suddenly, the cloud came from nowhere and turned this sunny afternoon into a dark night.  A minute later, the sun light came through the cloud above the Devils Tower. The sun light was so bright and made the dark sky even darker. The cloud cleared away in no time after I took this picture. This Kodak moment seems so familiar; the aliens from outer space just landed on the earth.
